We first visited Perth city at night 4 years ago never dreaming that one day we might live here. A small city skyline in comparison to my home town of Sydney I thought it was lovely and thought it would definitely be worth the 4 or 5 hour flight to come back. Fast forward to 2013 and we found ourselves over here permanently and in the back of our minds we knew we wanted to go out and explore and photograph the city.

It only took us about 9 months but at last Thomas went out to Kings Park to do some dusk/night photos of the city from near the war memorial. The southbound traffic over the Narrows bridge left graphic trails like ribbons of light and the buildings really started to twinkle. The whole effect is really charming, not overwhelming at all. It’s a gorgeous mix of city meeting the river meeting the bush. No wonder it’s considered one of Australia’s most liveable cities.

As an update, now that Elizabeth Quay has been built, I would be interested in going back to this location and photographing the city again to see how much of a difference there is.  Let’s hope it doesn’t take another 9 months.
