This post is not about a wedding that we photographed recently but there are pictures of a wedding couple! I had the pleasure of attending this AIPP workshop presented by Marcus Bell. The multi award winning Grand Master of Photography from Brisbane, keen to improve the photography industry as a whole. He willingly shared tips and advice on posing couples and composition right through to business and marketing ideas.

A stroll around the streets of Highgate, with our wedding models Anita and Ryan, provided us with an insight as to how Marcus sees potential locations for shooting wedding portraits. Not even a corner of a parking lot was overlooked. There are possibilities everywhere! A good wedding photographer should be able to see a great photo wherever they happen to end up and to do it as if they knew it was there all along. A quick eye, a confident manner and a softly spoken voice serves Marcus well. All the setups were done by Marcus. Sometimes giving directions to the models and sometimes not, allowing the magic to happen naturally. All of us attending the workshop were shooting in and around Marcus. Sometimes trying to capture his shot and sometimes from a totally different angle.

That’s the beauty of the art of photography – no two images will be alike, even if taken from the same spot. The following images are my favourites of mine from the AIPP workshop, taken on a Nikon D750 & Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8 lens.
